I think it’s safe to say I have a passionate love of music. I really enjoy listening, analyzing, searching for, and enjoying music. It plays a large role in my life. I also really enjoy and feel a bit passionate about fashion as well though. If you were to look at how I dressed sometimes you may question that, but I really enjoy reading about new fashion trends, and following people on social media that really enjoy fashion. While these are two separate passions that I have, they slightly intermingle a little bit because I love love love to wear band tee’s! I think they’re so much fun, and it’s kind of like you’re advertising that band. You’re also in a way saying, “hey I’m proud of this band, and I want the world to know that.” I got kind of lazy with wearing band tee’s though. I would throw one on with a pair of jeans, and be done with my outfit. Not that there’s anything wrong with that necessarily, but I wanted to challenge myself.
I decided to see if I could find some better ways to wear band tee’s by just changing it up a bit. I didn’t necessarily completely abandon the jeans and a t-shirt, but I tried to find ways to put a little more effort in. Sometimes that just meant putting more effort into my hair and makeup, and other times it was changing or adding an accessory or clothing item. It’s actually been kind of fun to see what I could come up with, and so I thought I’d share a bit of that with you. I also scoured Pinterest for some ideas as well, and put a board together of some of the ideas I really liked. If you’re a band tee lover like me then maybe you’ll also find some great ways to style your own band shirts! If you’re not a band tee lover then maybe you’ll find some good outfit ideas that you can exchange the band shirt for a regular shirt with.
1. Makeup and Hair can actually help dress up a outfit!
First off, can I say that it took me the longest time to find a Bon Jovi shirt! I wanted one for so long, and couldn’t find one anywhere. Finally found this one, and now I’m seeing them EVERYWHERE! I actually wore this the day that I got the idea for this blog post. This was just a typical jeans and a t-shirt day, and if you look closely you’ll spot my fantastic fox slippers. The outfit was simple, but I was home cleaning my room so I didn’t want to get too crazy. I tried to put a bit more effort into my hair and makeup this day though. It’s a simple way to add a little extra to your outfit because it gives the appearance that you did try, and I feel actually helps dress it up slightly.
2. I love a good hat!
I’ve loved hats for most of my life, and I’m obsessed with this black fedora I bought a few years ago. I actually got it for $4 in the guy’s section at Target, and it’s worked perfectly for me. This outfit was a lot of fun to put together! I was going to hang out with some friends, and wanted to look cute but also wanted to be comfortable. I exchanged my normal skinny jeans with some leather pants to make it fun, and added my favorite purple cardigan to add a little color to the outfit. I also added some fun purple eyeshadow to match the cardigan, and fun choker as well. It was fun, comfortable, and while it was slightly simple it was still a bit more than just jeans and a t-shirt.
3. Tucking in your shirt
A Journey shirt, like the Bon Jovi shirt also took me a while to find! I finally got this one when I saw them in concert a few years ago, and now they’re another band that has shirts everywhere. I’ve always liked the look of tucking your shirt into jeans, but I’ve never felt completely confident to wear it. I finally decided to try it out, and actually really liked how it turned out. It’s still just jeans and a t-shirt, but there’s just something about tucking the shirt in that adds to the outfit.
4. Blazers are so much fun!
Blazers are great because they can be worn with dress pants, or with jeans. They can make a dressed down outfit suddenly dressy, which is what I went for here. I’m a big fan of Johnny Cash, and I felt a black blazer was perfect for this shirt. It dressed the outfit up, and gave it some pizzazz ( insert spirit fingers here). This was definitely one of my favorites that I tried out!
5. Button Down shirts and a good pair of heeled boots!
Have I mentioned I love Johnny Cash yet? Because if I haven’t, I really love Johnny Cash! I picked up this Johnny Cash shirt, and the awesome coffee cup you may spot there, in Nashville recently! I really wanted to wear it, and I wanted it to be a part of my little experiment. I was playing a Women of Country playlist that day, and was feeling their vibes when picking out an outfit to go around the shirt. I picked out one of my favorite pairs of shoes, and this button down I recently purchased. I’d been trying to figure out how I wanted to wear the button down, and thought this would be a great way to style it. This was one of those outfits that I just felt confident in, and had a lot of fun wearing!
6. My Current Obsession: Scarves
I am so obsessed with the current scarf trend! They actually really add a lot to a look, and they’re just so cute! I can’t bring myself to pay the $25 that some places are charging for the scarves though, so I went to Target! They’re magnificent Bullseye’s Playground (what I normally call their $1 section) had some really cute scarves for $3, and so I picked up a few! I also bought another one they had in their bags/accessories section for $5! So the scarves can be super cheap, cute, and totally add some fun to your look! They’re also great because they’re so versatile! Sometimes I wear it in my hair, and other times I wear it around my neck! There are so many other ways to style them as well, and so I can’t recommend them enough.
7. Two Words: Velvet Skirt!
Sing it with me, “She wore blue velvet.” That’s always the first thing that comes to mind when I think of velvet! I’ve loved all the velvet stuff that’s become popular recently, and when I saw this skirt a few month’s ago I knew I had to get it! When I first saw it, my immediate thought was I wanted to wear it with a band tee! So that’s what I’ve done! It makes it so much fun, it’s comfortable, and it’s NOT pants!!! It’s actually what I’m wearing at the moment! Definitely recommend pairing velvet skirts with band t-shirts!! Also you may spy my sweet Skylar in one of the pics! He wanted to say Happy National Puppy Day!
I had a lot of fun trying to figure out new ways to wear some of my band tee’s, and I can’t wait to continue doing it! I also can’t wait for summer to pull out my high waisted shorts because that’s another favorite of mine! What’s some of your favorite ways to wear band tee’s? If you don’t wear band tee’s what’s some of your current favorite fashion trends? I’d love to hear from you! Also don’t forget to check out my Pinterest for my board on Band Tee’s, and more! Have a great week everyone! See you next week where we’ll be celebrating my bday!
